Light painting

Light painting with the moonlit vista (25 second exposure at f/5, ISO 400 -- spot lit with two bursts of manual flash on trees). Moonlight only, along with faint city lights/glow. Large version here.

Love the effect. Surreal. Made me think of a magical forest that the kids from Chronicles of Narnia might have wandered into.

The lighting is just beautiful.

I took the picture in the park that is across the street from our building. I was sitting on the couch and got inspired from a blog I was reading to take some long-exposure photos, and include a little flash on the trees to lighten them up. So I bundled up and took my camera and tripod out to the field next door.

It was really fun to be doing it (although in the near darkness it was impossible to focus correctly!). I would set the timer, then run to the trees so I could flash them while the camera shutter was still open. All the running kept me warm!
